‘A haunting, rising, swooping voice that did wonderful things to my nerve ends’, says The Guardianabout Kelsey Michael, while Hannah Bullock is described as ‘a songwriting force to be reckoned with’ (Fruit Tree).
Kelsey Michael takes daily rhythms and the flow of the seasons, distilling them into musical gems. Songs with titles like ‘Mounts Bay Morning’, ‘Swimming’ and ‘Gry Maritha’ celebrate the colours and vibrancy of life in Penzance and west Cornwall.
Kelsey’s music, traverses pop, jazz and folk, and her voice has been described as a ‘A haunting, rising, swooping voice that did wonderful things to my nerve ends.’ (Guardian).
She performs with Kelsey Michael Band featuring Greg Dyer on drums (Kabasa, Tyn Daga, Radio Rio) and Ben Kypreos on bass (The Trophy husbands, Spacedog).
Kelsey features on several High Llamas albums, has sung live with The The, and recorded and performed music with composer Jocelyn Pook for film, theatre and ensemble.
Hannah Bullock has made an art of turning stories of love, loss and growing up into intricate yet bold songs, with a real warmth and sincerity to them. Her pared back guitar style leaves plenty of space for the hues and colour of her voice to shine through – treating audiences to a moving and intimate performance.
